This pack has so much to offer that it's pretty hard to figure out where I want to start.
Ease of InstallVersion 4.1 has an obscenely simple install process, and with a
little bit of reading, the upgrade process to 4.2 is also extremely simple.
I did deviate from the install process a little, however, and used a symbolic link to the X:/ drive to avoid allocating a large chunk of my drive to a different partition.
Even with the default install process, the directions have been laid out in a comprehensive manner, and it's wonderful to see that RottenDub has made this process user-friendly and simple.
Mod VarietyAs far as immersion goes, there's no other way that I would want to experience Skyrim. It's clear that RottenDub has put in an immeasurable amount of time here, and it's a privilege to able to play the game as RottenDub sees fit. However, I was a bit overwhelmed by the difficulty of the pack (with the WTF mod anyway) as I selected to be a pure mage. I'm only 25-30 hours or so in (with virtually no progress made on the main quest line, mind you) and it still a great and rewarding challenge to clear out caves and dungeons.
PerformanceI guess this section will vary on your hardware, but as someone that as a high end(ish) PC (5820k @ 4.6ghz, Nvidia 980Ti, 32gb DDR4 Ram, 2560x1440 display) it still runs extremely smooth. The only ares where I have major fps issues is in the larger major cities, where my fps will dip to sub 40 at times. However, my mod configurations are set to default. Therefore, cities and the world itself has a high population of NPCs roaming around and creates a wonderful sense of immersion. The big plus here is that, when I lower my display resolution to 1080p, my game rarely ever drops below 60fps.
Here are my settings on Skyrim Configurator. As you can see, I did sacrifice a bit of shadow quality, but the game still looks beautiful and runs well.
ModularityI have yet to add my own flavor of additions, but judging by how
this post is available to help us add our own mods, this pack appears to have the proper setup to have you shape the game as you see fit.
OverallI'm extremely pleased that I found this pack. Rotten is extremely active on the forums and tries to help out where he can. As someone that has never played Skyrim prior to finding the 4.1 pack, I'm excited (and grateful) to play this amazing world that I avoided for so long in this way. Don't fret about the large download size of the pack, it's well worth it!
